Because of this company, because of the hard work I've put in, I'm happy to say that I've helped my family financially so many times. This job has saved us so many times that I'm like, 'If it wasn't for that, we'd be screwed.' I won't lie and say the pay is equivalent to driving a truck, but neither do I have to worry about the weather, miss dinner with my family, commute, keep my driver's license and medical certificate up to date or about Being 700 miles from home when a family emergency arises.
I also love some of the things I've learned since I started. I'm always interested in the stories I transcribe and feel like I'm part of someone's story. I love doing legal transcripts and sometimes it's just an insurance interview, sometimes it's an interrogation, but it's always interesting. I've transcribed interviews with Elon Musk, Quentin Tarantino, Anthony Hopkins, Sally Fields and many other famous people. It's ALWAYS interesting.
Every day I learn something different - as I write down what someone says, I learn. Sometimes I swear I can feel my brain growing. Rev allows me to do things I wouldn't otherwise be able to do, plus I don't have to deal with the commute, the stress of a demanding boss, and not enough paychecks.

I am a millennium. As often as I hear that millennials don't want to work and seem entitled, I've always wanted to work and I've never been choosy. However, after college I got tired of working as an intern as that is the majority of the positions available. I studied communication sciences, especially journalism. I got a few jobs in my area, but it seemed like I was going nowhere. My goal was simple: to work hard by the time I was 30 to get out of my parents' house. Never happened... but since I found Rev I feel like I'm on the right track.
My family is spread all over the world. I was born in Mozambique. I live in Portugal. I lived in the UK for a while. I took the leap into the work at home adventure three decades ago and compare Rev to many. One thing I love about Rev is its fantastic flexibility. We can actually decide how much and when we work.
Many WAH choices pride themselves on their flexibility. However, if you read their fine print, it says you must take any job that comes your way - but you can choose which five days of the week you want to work and whether you work mornings or evenings. Not quite as flexible when it comes to the nitty-gritty. And life is all about the essentials.
This became frighteningly real to me in October when I was hospitalized for three weeks for sepsis and other things related to this dire condition. Then I was unable to work for a few weeks after the hospital stay. I lost two writing contracts because of it. As you know, freelancers don't get sick. Out of respect for these customers, they had to meet deadlines. Your hands were tied.
When I was able to get back on my feet, I took stock of my freelance portfolio and there was Rev. Even after five weeks of no production, my account with Rev still held high. Better still, the work flowed. As I regained momentum and started looking for contracts to replace the ones I lost, my job at Rev provided groceries for me and the cat, left the lights on, and left me enough to buy my grandson's Christmas presents. Children.
