Safety issues for pedestrians
About 353 pedestrians were killed and another 720 seriously injured in Nevada between 2012 and 2016, and 57 of those deaths occurred in the Las Vegas Valley in 2016 alone. Unfortunately, pedestrian deaths continue to rise. 2017 was the deadliest year for pedestrians in the metro area, with 78 people losing their lives after being hit by motorists. Pedestrian fatalities accounted for 38% of traffic-related fatalities in Clark County that year.
